Reading with your child

We have a wide range of books which are available for our preschool children to borrow and share with their families at home. Just let us know when dropping or picking up your child and we can ensure they choose a book to bring home or you can choose one with them at pick up.

Some Helpful Tips - Reading With Your Child:

Read and re-read your child’s favourite books. It also helps develop their listening skills and speech as well as their early reading.

Explore different kinds of text together. Children are quite inquisitive, so if they ask a question you could even google an answer together.

Enjoy having some quiet time together, losing yourselves in a book. One book may start a whole adventure.

Remember reading can be about more than ‘reading’, the children can take so much from a book, you may decide to talk about places, colours, numbers; you may use the book to do some counting.

Whilst children enjoy having stories read to them they also benefit from having the opportunity to tell a story, act a story out or just talk about what they see.

Children always enjoy using props too!
